Thumbs Down


This headline (Straits Times website, 13 July 2010) is wrong: the correct expression is thumbs down, not thumb’s down.

This one seems to be a pretty common error... and a shameful one, at that. Why can't people just look up their contractions instead of tossing aprostrophes (sp?) everywhere?!
